Pastor Peter Lillystone

I have just come back from serving on the welcome team for week 1 of the annual Keswick Convention. It was a wonderful week with very hot weather (unusual for Keswick!). It was great to see the marquee filled with nearly 3000 adults as well as events for children and youth.

I loved the Bible readings with Alistair Begg, as he took us through 2 Timothy. The evening celebrations covered Matthew chapters 8-9. The worship was led by EMU music from Australia and they introduced us to several new songs including: “Here we stand, the church of the Redeemed”.

I also enjoyed listening to the life stories of four missionaries connected to Keswick convention. Most of the talks can be accessed on YouTube: Keswick Convention 2022. It made me think of the Jews travelling to Jerusalem for the 3 great annual festivals: Passover, Pentecost and the Feast of Tabernacles..

I have been amazed as I watched the news on TV from Dover and the delays people have endured to get on the ferry or go through the Channel tunnel. People seemed so patient!! I’m not sure I would have been so patient in such long queues.

During the school holidays, Costessey Monkeys, the parent and toddler group has temporarily stopped to give staff the opportunity of a break and will resume on  8th September. Some members of our fellowship are travelling to see the Passion Play in Oberammergau. This happens once every 10 years, but was postponed in 2020 due to Covid 19. We look forward to hearing all about it on their return.

Sunday services continue at 10.45 each week and we would love to see you if you are on holiday in the area.
