Pastor Peter Lillystone

So much to do and so little time to do it! Surely, time does fly! In order to be an efficient time manager I need to write lists and put them in order of priority. I need to be aware of the tyranny of the urgent. I am reminded of the puzzle of how to get large stones, medium size stones and sand in a jar. The answer is to start with the larger objects working down to the smallest.

As you know I have accepted a call to full time ministry at Benfleet Baptist church in Essex starting in September. Our deacons: Barbara, John and Paul are working in consultation with our regional Minister to see the way ahead. There are lots of opportunities for service in CBC. Are you willing to stand in the gap and help out? There are practical roles and administrative roles that will need to be filled if the church is to continue to run effectively. The Deacons cannot take on all these extra roles, they need you to help them and the church.

As we contemplate our move, we need to get rid of excess baggage. Things that we have keep just in case they will be needed, but in reality, they are rarely needed. There is so little time, so we need to prioritise. Hence my lists!! Jesus spoke about priorities in his sermon on the Mount: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things (your life, food, drink, your body, clothes v25) will be given to you as well. Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:33-34
